Dark Romantics	Were a group pf the nineteenth-century writers who explored the dark side of human nature. Explored the human potencial for evil including the psychological effects of guilt, sin and madness. *This view countered the optimism of the Transcendalist writers of the time.
Trancesndalists	Were a gropu of the nineteenth-century writers and artists who beleive in the goodness and ultimate perfectability of human beings. The avlued self-ireliance and individualism over custom and tradition. *They saw the natural world as a doorway to mystical or ideal reality.
Diferences:	T- Saw divine goodness and beauty beneath evereything. Embraced the mystical and ideamistic elements of Purotan thought. DR- believed spirituak truths may be ugly frightening. Reintroduced the dark side of Purotan beleifs: rhe idea of Original Sin and the human potencial for evil.
Similarities	True reality is spiritual. Intutition in superior to logic or reason. *Human evebts contain signs and symbols of spiritual truths.
