Renaissance
The period between the 14th and 16th centuries which was characterised by the application of humanistic ideas in the field of art and considered and European cultural, artistic, political and economic "rebirth" following the Middle Ages.
Quattrocento
The name given to the 15th century.
Cinquecento
The name given to the 16th century.
Mannerism
A style of art developed at the end of the High Renaissance, characterised by the deliberate distortion and exaggeration of perspective, specially the elongation of figures.
Perspective
A technique of depicting volumes and spatial relationships on a flat surface. Types: linear, horizon line, vanishing point, a perspective and a single point, with two points, with three points, with four points and with five points.

The definition of form in painting without abrupt outline by the blending of one tone into another.
Fresco
A type of wall painting in which color pigments are mixed with water and applied to wet plaster.
