Differences between Bipolar type I disorder with current manic episode, current hypomanic episode, current depressive episode: and current mixed episode:
1. Manic: extreme mood state lasting one week characterised with euphoria, irritability, increased activity, rapid speech, flight of ideas, gandiosity, decreased sleep, reckless behaviour, rapid mood states.
2. Hypomanic: several days with symptoms like mild elevation of mood, increased irritability, increased of energy, rapid speech, racing thoughts, increase in sexual drive, reckless behaviour. Not severe enough to make occupational imapirment functioning.
3. Depressive: depressed mood, decreased interest in activities during the day, nearly everyday for at least 2 weeks, difficult concentrating, feeling worthlessness, inappropriate guilt, hopelessnessm thoughts of death or suicide, appetite or sleep changes , reduced energy or fatigue.
Mixed: Presence of several manic and several depressive episodes, which ocuur simultaneously or alternate rapidly (day to day or in the same day) it most be present for most of the day, every day fo rat least 2 weeks.
Bipolar type II disorder characteristics:
One or more hypomanic episodes and at least one depressive episode.
Hypomanic: Persisten elvation of mood, irritability, increased activity, increased energy, talkativeness, rapid thoughts, increased self.esteem, reckless behaviour. Not marked impairment functioning.

- Persistent thoughts that harm or some other untoward event will lead to separtion
- Refusal to go to school
- Excessive distress related to being separated from the attachment figure
- Refusal to go to sleep withput being near to the attachment figure
- Nightmares about separation
- Physical symptoms like nausea, vomiting, stomach/headache that involes the separation from attcahemnt figure

5. It is severe to a degree that it interferes with educational achievement or with social communication or imapirments in areas of functioning
