A traditional legend holds that visitors throw a coin into the fountain ensures your return to Rome. A current interpretation is that two coins lead to a new romance and three secure a marriage or divorce. Another version of this legend is that it is lucky to throw three coins with your right hand over your left shoulder to the source. An estimated three thousand euros a day are thrown to the source, although this number is increasing. The money has been used to fund a supermarket for the needy Romans.
